Paris 1901: “Hommage à Edouard Leon Cortès”. This is my tribute to one of my favourite artists of the last century, Edouard Leon Cortès, one of the masters of Paris street scenes and cityscapes who excelled at depicting France’s La Belle Époque, evoking the spirit of Parisian streets at the turn of the 20th century, particularly the era that was later called La Belle Époque. And especially because it was looked back on thus, scenes from that period have always evoked in me, and millions of others, a nostalgia for an impossible time of simplicity, elegance, creativity and a determination to leave the wars behind and "vivre pour le moment". 40 x 30 cm.
